From 9 to 13th of September 2024, our group attendend and actively participated to the International Association of Hydrogeologists’s World Groundwater Congress in Davos, Switzerland.
Five of us travelled to Davos and contributed to the congress with four oral presentations and one poster:
- Compound-Specific Stable Isotope Analysis (CSIA) to assess Bioremediation of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in Groundwater: Integration with Biomolecular Tools in a Long-Term Monitoring – Oldani, Erica, Marchesi, M., Villalba S. G., Pietrini I., Carpani, G., Poppa L., Villani F., Alberti, L. – Session: 2.08. Environmental tracers to investigate anthropogenic impacts on groundwater quality
- Reactive Transport Modelling to assess bioremediation time frames under uncertainty – Mazzon, Pietro, Alberti, L. – Session: 5.01. Applied Modeling for Decision Support in Uncertain and Data-Sparse Environments
- A journey towards the understanding and representation of a complex agri-urban context through different data collection techniques – Colombo, Paolo, Mazzon P., Alberti L. – Session: 4.03. From Data to Decisions
- Climate change adaptation in Northern Italy by creating a groundwater buffer through off-season irrigation – Alberti, Luca, Colombo P., Mazzon P., Rovelli, A., Medina Montecinos, C. – Session: 4.06. Sustainable groundwater management: evaluating measures and strategies for enhancing the buffering capacity of groundwater
- Issues and opportunities from youth perspectives on groundwater management – Plantak, L., Schmidt, I., Colombo, Paolo, Jose, A. – Session: – Poster – Plantak, L., Schmidt, I., Colombo, Paolo, Jose, A. – Session: 3.08. Groundwater Monitoring and Reporting: Navigating Challenges and Promoting Collective Action – Poster
Aside from our own contributions, which were welcomed with interest and positive feedbacks by the attendees, the congress was packed with cutting hedge research and inspiring studies. It was a great opportunity to get challenged and think outside the box about our own research and future strings.
We also had plenty of fun! We ate the amazing Swiss fondue and raclette, we hiked in the beautiful surrounding mountains and had dinner with all the IAH members in the great venue of the congress. All of this can be seen in the following selfie 😎! In the gallery, instead, we are very serious presenting our works 🥸.
Up to the next experience!
